Our physicians are specialists in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease,
gastroenterology and hepatology. Their medical training consisted of medical
school, one year of internship, two years of residency in internal medicine,
and at least two additional years of training to fulfill Board requirements
in their subspecialty. In these pages you will find a more specific outline
of each doctors background.
The doctors regularly attend local, national, and international medical
conferences to remain at the forefront of developments in internal medicine
and in the treatment of cardiac, gastrointestinal and liver diseases. As
faculty members of NYU Medical Center, they instruct medical students and
resident physicians. The doctors are attending physicians at North Shore
University Hospital, Manhasset, a major teaching hospital. Should hospitalization
be necessary, our patients are admitted to North Shore University Hospital.
Dr. Berger
performs colonoscopies, endoscopies, sigmoidoscopies, liver biopsies and
paracenteses at North Shore University Hospital and at an independent day-op
facility.
Although you will have your own physician, the other doctors in the group
have access to important information and are kept apprised of your progress
when necessary. Patients in the hospital are seen each day, most often
by their primary physician and at times by other members of the group.
The doctors discuss cases to make sure that all avenues of diagnosis and
treatment are considered and that patients are given the best possible
care.
